How to connect ChatGPT to Erlangly

Ask ChatGPT how tomorrow looks, and it answers from your schedule in Erlangly. Here's how to connect them.

First, an admin turns it on. In Erlangly, under Settings, AI agents, tick Let AI assistants connect. Erlangly then shows the address to give your assistant: your Erlangly's own address, with slash MCP on the end. ChatGPT connects from OpenAI's servers, so Erlangly has to be on the internet, over HTTPS.

In ChatGPT, open Plugins. Choose Add, then Add custom MCP server. Name it Erlangly, and paste the address. ChatGPT checks the server, and finds how to sign in by itself. It warns you to connect only servers you trust. Tick the box, and create it.

Then Connect Erlangly. ChatGPT sends you to Erlangly to sign in, with single sign-on if you use it. Erlangly asks what ChatGPT may do: only read, or read and change what you can change, like deciding time off. Either way, it can't publish schedules or see other people's email addresses. Allow, and you're back in ChatGPT, with Erlangly installed.

ChatGPT asks for permission per app. Under Settings, Plugins, Erlangly, choose Allow read-only tools. It reads without asking, and asks you before it changes anything.

Start a chat, and type at Erlangly, or pick it from the plus menu. Then ask in your own words. How does tomorrow look on Billing? ChatGPT reads Monday's coverage, interval by interval: twenty-three short at a quarter to eleven, about six short at half past seven, and plenty of cover after lunch.

Latoya asked for Monday off. Approve it. ChatGPT finds her request, and asks you first. Allow once. It's approved: her shift stays on the schedule, and she isn't counted that day.
