Install

Erlangly runs as one Docker container on a Linux server you choose: a cloud server, a machine in your office, or a virtual machine.

It's free for up to 25 active agents, with every feature. More than that? Get a 30-day trial key with no agent limit, and paste it into Settings → Licence once Erlangly is running.

What you need

  • Ubuntu or Debian, on x86-64 or ARM64.
  • 2 GB of memory or more, and a few GB of disk. A small cloud server is enough for most contact centres.
  • Port 80 open to the people who'll use it (or the port you choose).
  • For HTTPS: a domain pointed at the server, and ports 80 and 443 open.

Install it

curl -fsSL https://get.erlangly.com | sh

This installs Docker if it isn't there, installs the erlangly command, and starts Erlangly: a few minutes on a new server, which installs its own updates first. It then prints a secret setup link: open it to create your organisation and your admin account. Until you do, nobody else can set up your server. Lost it? Run erlangly setup-link. On a cloud server the link may show its private address: open it with the server's public address instead.

Check it before you run it

Prefer to read the installer first? Download it, check it against our published checksums, then run it:

curl -fsSLO https://get.erlangly.com/install.sh
curl -fsSL https://get.erlangly.com/SHA256SUMS | sha256sum -c --ignore-missing
sh install.sh

The erlangly command downloads Erlangly by the image digest listed for each release at get.erlangly.com/images, never just by its tag, so the image you run is the one we built.

HTTPS

curl -fsSL https://get.erlangly.com | TLS_DOMAIN=wfm.example.com sh

With a domain, Erlangly gets a free Let's Encrypt certificate and serves HTTPS only. Already installed without one? Put the domain in TLS_DOMAIN= in /etc/erlangly/erlangly.conf (with sudo), run erlangly restart, and erlangly setup-link prints the new https:// link if you haven't set up yet.

Behind your own proxy

Already running a reverse proxy (nginx, Nginx Proxy Manager, Caddy, a Cloudflare tunnel)? Install Erlangly on another port and tell it the address people open. Your proxy handles HTTPS and forwards to that port; turn WebSockets on for the live wallboard.

curl -fsSL https://get.erlangly.com | ERLANGLY_HTTP_PORT=8095 ERLANGLY_URL=https://wfm.example.com sh

Without a domain or a proxy, Erlangly serves plain HTTP, so passwords and API tokens cross the network unencrypted: use that only on a trusted network.

Other settings

Pass these to the install, or change them later in /etc/erlangly/erlangly.conf and run erlangly restart.

  • ERLANGLY_HTTP_PORT and ERLANGLY_HTTPS_PORT: publish on other ports (80 and 443 by default).
  • ERLANGLY_TAG: install a particular version (when installing only: afterwards, erlangly upgrade 0.8.56 installs one).
  • ERLANGLY_URL: the address people open, when your own HTTPS proxy is in front.

Docker Compose

Prefer Compose? The compose.yml runs the same container. The erlangly command adds safer upgrades and backups, so we recommend it.
