Swapping a shift

You can trade a shift with a colleague: you ask, they accept, and a supervisor approves. This page is for agents. Supervisors: see Shift swaps.

Asking

  1. On My schedule, choose Swap on a shift that's still to come.
  2. Erlangly lists your colleagues' shifts you could take instead: within 3 days either side, on lines of business you both work, at times you're both free.
  3. Pick one, add a note if you like, and choose Ask to swap.

If nobody fits, it says so: ask your supervisor instead.

When someone asks you

Their request shows under Swaps, beside Time off, with their note. With email set up, you're told. Choose Accept or No thanks.

Swaps: a request asked of you.

After you both agree

A supervisor approves or declines the swap. Approving checks the rules for both of you, like enough rest between shifts.

  • Approved: the shifts change hands, each with its breaks. Your schedule shows the new one, and asks you to look and choose Got it.
  • Declined: nothing changes, and you see the supervisor's note if they left one.

Whoever asked can cancel a swap until it's decided. A swap nobody finished expires when the earlier of the two shifts starts.
